Long Reach Pool
Parties
The Kendall Ridge Pool Party on July 19 is
sold out.
As of Monday, July 19, there are some tickets still available for the
Jeffers Hill Pool Party on July 20. Tickets for the Jeffers Hill Pool Party
will be available up to 12 Noon on July 20 OR until all the tickets are
given out.
In the event of bad weather, we may cancel a pool party. If you are concerned about the weather on the day of the party, call Stonehouse after 3:00 p.m. If your party has been cancelled on Monday, you may use your tickets at the Tuesday pool party, space permitting. To do this, you must call Stonehouse by noon on the day following your party to make reservations for the Tuesday pool party at Jeffers Hill. If you do not make reservations, you will not be able to attend.
If the Tuesday, Jeffers Hill party is cancelled, there is no raindate.
Village Center Master Plan Advisory Committee
The Long Reach Village Board is looking for qualified residents interested in appointment to the Village Center Master Plan Advisory Committee. Over the past few years, there have been several legislative initiatives related to planning and zoning that have both direct and indirect impact on Columbia and the village centers. Parts of the bills allow for the formulation of a Village Center Community Plan that would be developed by the community and endorsed by the Village Board.
This committee would gather information in pursuit of a Master Plan that would position the Village to take an active role in shaping the future composition of Village Center property, related improvements and uses in the Long Reach area. To this end the committee will have responsibility to produce position papers, correspondence, and comments on documents produced by others. Members selected will be expected to give a one year commitment to the committee with the expectation of bi-monthly meetings. Although not required, any experience in community planning and development, commercial planning or other related fields would be welcome.

JEFFERS HILL COMMUNITY
PLAYGROUND UPDATE
CA plans to have the Jeffers
Hill Community Playground restored by early June. The play equipment
has been ordered and is ready to be installed once the playground is
resurfaced. In order to resurface the playground temperatures have to
be 50 degrees or higher for a sustained period of time with no rain.

| The Long Reach Community |
Long Reach is the largest and one of the oldest of 10 villages that make up the new town of Columbia, Maryland. Our village comprises four neighborhoods: Jeffers Hill, Kendall Ridge, Locust Park and Phelps Luck. From our start in 1971, we have grown to more than 17,000 people living in approximately 5,950households.
Long Reach Community Association is the nonprofit organization that governs and represents our village. Both property owners and residents of Long Reach are members of the Association and elect a five-member Village Board and council representative to the Columbia Board of Directors. A small staff and many volunteers conduct the daily business of the Association at Stonehouse, our community center in the Long Reach Village Center. The Columbia assessment contributes about one-third of our funding and our own activities generate the remaining two-thirds.
The Village Board meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m., at Stonehouse. The Resident Architectural Committee (RAC) reviews Exterior Alteration Applications every other week on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Your attendance at all community meetings is not only welcome but encouraged. New residents of Long Reach are urged to stop by Stonehouse and pick up a helpful Newcomers' Packet with a variety of information on Long Reach, Columbia and Howard County. Exterior Alteration Applications can be faxed to Stonehouse and we are always pleased to receive resident comments by letter, phone or e-mail.
